We've been making good progress at the studio. Slow and steady. But the mass loaded vinyl on the floor is done as well as the whisper mat. Flooring is next then just the small stuff hopefully. Onward to recording!
So the place I work at is really cool. They are throwing a little festival in honor of earth day. There will be beer from Mother Earth Brewing company and I will be playing some music from 3-5:30 ish. Pretty sweet Friday afternoon for me. Looking forward to the event! Here are some recent photos of southern California spring that make me happy.
Well hello there everyone. It is springtime..you diggin it? I'm a fan of it being light out longer, getting back into the outdoors a bit more. Just wanted to share a quick update that I'll be playing at Cafe Ipe this Sunday, April 1st at 2 pm. You can expect to hear 3 new songs (unless you came to the show two weeks ago, then you've already heard them, congrats). Here is a clip from the last show. Enjoy! I'll be in touch soon. Well, what a trip. This year, a crew of 3 from Encinitas chapter went down to the Dominican Republic to help with the second annual Christian Surfers Dominican Republic Surf Contest and missions work. We were blessed to be able to bring down 6 surfboards to leave in the DR (from some generous friends and Steve Ford of Ford Surfboards), a whole slew of swag from Jedidiah and Quiksilver, trophies, surf wax, and more. Thanks so much to everyone who donated, it was amazing support. When we got down to the DR Surf adventures house (thanks again Allan and Bryan!), we met up with Dustin Miller, one of the raddest dude-tastic bros we have the pleasure of knowing down in the DR. The week proceeded to be full of great experiences, getting plugged-in to some local churches, the CS DR chapter, school programs, medical clinic, work and fun with the Haslett family's Ninos de la Luz ministry for street children, and all preparations/running the contest. What a blessing to be part of it all. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as make a bunch of new friends. The contest had some sketchy weather on the horizon for first day, but as things materialized we knew it was going to be great. There was a great kick off event for registration, I was able to play a little benefit show at the Aloha Surf Cafe in Cabarete, and the waves and weather hit perfect for the final day of the contest. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. The trip and the contest were awesome. Looking forward to next year! Check out the video recap to see it all for yourself! More videos from the show and surfing coming soon. Stay tuned. Hello Everyone! First of all, a late Happy New Year to you all! After a wonderful time spend back on the east coast for Christmas, I returned to southern california just before the new year. It was a great time at home seeing friends and family and was great to return to friends out on the west coast too!
Surfing and climbing helped me ease back into my lifestyle out here and we were blessed with some pretty awesome weather to enjoy so far this January. Included in the fun was heading to the Belly Up to see Dick Dale, king of the surf guitar and Hargo. The boys from Hargo put on a great show, I'm really enjoying their sound and tightness of the live shows I've seen. Check them out if you haven't already http://hargomusic.com/. Dick Dale put on a great show of surf rock classics packed with energy. We had a great spot right up front where the band was rocking out. We've finished the drywall for the studio! I'll post some more pictures soon. I've gotten my first international show experience in the Dominican Republic at the Aloha Surf Cafe...thanks to Juan Carlos and the Aloha Cafe for a rocking time. More updates coming soon. I wish you all the best for a wonderful 2012! Hello Everyone,
Well, the past two weeks provided me with some pretty awesome shows. I haven't been seeing as much live music as I would like to on a regular basis and I definitely was able to satisfy my appetite with these recent performances. It all started the weekend after Thanksgiving, checking out a jazz guitar duo in Del Mar, CA to warm me up for BB King at the Belly Up in Solana Beach. What a great show that was. BB and his band were able to give a stellar performance, complete with Lucille singing her blues in true form. He had a fantastic band behind him, complete with horns, guitars, drums, keys, the whole bit. Epic. Then, this past Saturday evening, I headed down towards San Diego to see the 91X Wrex the Halls Night 1 show. Lineup was solid. Naked and Famous, Airborne Toxic Event, Cage the Elephant, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Death Cab for Cutie, and Florence and the Machine. It was a long night of music, but being up front on the floor was a great experience. All of the bands were pretty solid with the highlights being Death Cab and Florence for me. Awesome weeks of live music! Thanks to Kei for some of the pictures from the show! Hope to be playing live myself in the coming weeks after Christmas. |
