So as we were in the process of remixing the Balance Acoustic EP (which I know is long overdue, I apologize for the delay, I was just not totally happy with some elements of the first versions) my buddy Aaron mentioned that he wanted to turn his upstairs music room into a studio. But he wants to really do the best he can with what he's got. So, we are embarking on a project to build a studio that will be the real deal. We are in the process of sound-proofing the room now, hanging mass loaded vinyl (which you can see below) before we put in the acoustically insulated drywall. It's a big job but it's exciting. Keep checking back for updates as the project rolls along! Check out some of the before photos.
On Friday night I had a the pleasure of seeing one of my favorite groups, Fleet Foxes, live at the Spreckles Theater in San Diego. It was an amazing show and Spreckles is such a perfect venue for a band like Fleet Foxes! The whole vibe of the night was incredible and the Foxes played through a solid amount of material that spanned songs off of their first full length debut, early EPs, as well as the new album "Helplessness Blues" They absolutely nailed their sound live and their rich vocal harmonies were just inspiring to listen to. They also packed great energy into some of the songs that may have had a more laid back vibe on the recordings. It was a fun, interactive crowd and a great night of music. Check out their new album Helplessness Blues! You can stream it from a link off of their website HERE. Or you can stream the whole album from HERE.
