We have made our way past the destruction of the original room, past running cables through the walls, past the blood, sweat, and tears of hanging mass loaded vinyl on the existing walls, past the acoustical caulk, past the acoustical taping, and now, past the putty, past the staples, triumphantly entering into the green glue and the Quietrock soundproof drywall phase. Was that a run-on sentence? Probably, but no matter. The studio is on it's way to becoming a finished masterpiece. ONE WALL DOWN.

This past weekend the "House Band of San Diego", Switchfoot performed at Petco Park Stadium after a Padres game. It was a great show as usual from those guys, who threw in a Tom Petty cover as well as sang "take me out to the ball game". Anyway, they decided to release their upcoming album, Vice Verses, at the game a few days before it's official release. I was able to get my hands on a copy signed by the band, which were floating around at the beginning of the game. Pretty cool hometown appreciation on their part. Switchfoot has a lot of impact on the community and have used their annual Bro-Am to raise money for the organization Stand Up for Kids. Check out the organization and the ways it is helping the homeless children in San Diego and check out the new album from Switchfoot, Dark Horses is the first single...and its pretty rockin. You can check it out here: Thanks for the early CD!
Check out: Stand Up For Kids This past Saturday, I had the opportunity to speak at a Kiwanis club meeting in Ramona, CA about the changing state of the music industry, the role of technology, and what it all means for musicians independently pursuing opportunities to further their careers. I want to extend a big thank you to the club for a great morning of music and conversation. I am always excited to meet others excited about music! One member has one of the biggest harmonica collections in the world, another has a son touring europe, some mentioned they heard about the changing state of the music industry from the last major concert they went to! Others were members of bands in the past, some are still active musicians, while others just love music and expressed their interest in learning how the art and industry is transforming. I had a great time! Great to meet everyone! Please check out their website and support them in your locality if you can. Photos of the event and small article can be found here:
