There are times when I come across ideas, movements, groups, concepts, whatever...and I just think...man I want to be a part of that. It is something I want to share in or create something in the same arena. It has so many or all of the elements of what gets me excited to pursue ideas. I came across the website Shaking Through and pretty much became immersed in the mini documentaries, the songs, the photos, and the stories this place has to offer. Not only do I get to nerd out on all of the studio stuff, but the creative discussions about songwriting, the producing process, and the whole vibe of the site and the idea is fantastic. The videos and photos are really well done. You can see creativity and art and the blend of technology and technical expertise all in the context of music and film. Check out what is going on at this place, support them if you like via their kickstarter campaign, and who knows, perhaps someday our studio out here will develop/support something similar!

The day has finally come! After over a year of construction, the recording studio is finished! The room is complete, the gear is loaded, the power is on and we are ready to make some MUSIC! This is incredibly exciting and it is really going to be a wonderful space to make music to share with you all. A big thanks to Aaron Hall for really being the mastermind behind the project. Thanks to Jonah for lending a helping hand when needed. In celebration of this milestone occasion, we are throwing a BBQ at the studio's location in Oceanside today. Please get in touch if you would like to swing by! Can't wait to start recording some new projects for you all to hear! We have made our way past the destruction of the original room, past running cables through the walls, past the blood, sweat, and tears of hanging mass loaded vinyl on the existing walls, past the acoustical caulk, past the acoustical taping, and now, past the putty, past the staples, triumphantly entering into the green glue and the Quietrock soundproof drywall phase. Was that a run-on sentence? Probably, but no matter. The studio is on it's way to becoming a finished masterpiece. ONE WALL DOWN. So as we were in the process of remixing the Balance Acoustic EP (which I know is long overdue, I apologize for the delay, I was just not totally happy with some elements of the first versions) my buddy Aaron mentioned that he wanted to turn his upstairs music room into a studio. But he wants to really do the best he can with what he's got. So, we are embarking on a project to build a studio that will be the real deal. We are in the process of sound-proofing the room now, hanging mass loaded vinyl (which you can see below) before we put in the acoustically insulated drywall. It's a big job but it's exciting. Keep checking back for updates as the project rolls along! Check out some of the before photos.
